Bart Pitman Memorial Music Scholarship

The Bart Pitman scholarship is awarded to two high school seniors (winner + runner up) totaling $9,000 ($6000+$3000) for a keyboard scholarship. It is available to two high school seniors who plan to declare a major in classical piano or organ at a degree granting conservatory, college or university in the fall semester following graduation from high school.  Two winners are selected each year.

Applicants should be prepared to play three pieces of contrasting periods or composers from the standard classical piano/organ literature.  A jury of professional keyboard musicians will select a winner on the basis of the live audition performance. Applicants must reside in or study with a teacher who resides in Pennsylvania or New Jersey. Applicants must have been accepted by an accredited degree-granting music institution at the time of application.

The winner will be required to perform at the Delaware Valley Music Club's Young Performers Concert on a mutually convenient date during the March college break.

Winners of this award have gone on to study at Curtis Institute of Music,  Juilliard, Eastman, Westminster Choir College, Oberlin, Indiana University, New England Conservatory, Esther Boyer and other fine schools of music.
